St. Andrews Royal and Ancient Golf Club

Old Tom Morris the creator of St. Andrews Royal and Ancient Golf Course is a mecca and is recognized as the home of golf, the starting point the alpha and omega.  Not only is it the home of golf but it is also the home of master club maker Hugh Philip.

Like Jesus, Hugh Philip was a carpenter in his early career.  Golf’s popularity in the region swayed his focus to making clubs for the likes of Tom Morris Sr., Allan Robertson and Willie Park Sr.

Hugh Philip made these original golf clubs from thorn, hickory, pear, apple, ash and other fine woods.  Golf owes a great deal to this man and the Royal and Ancient Golf Course at St. Andrews.  This fine place on the coast of Scotland is what we owe all our golfing joys and golfing pains.  Take a moment to pay homage.
