It's TIME to work on your mental game!

Hello sports fans. It’s fitting that I am talking about playing golf when the biggest snow storm of the season hit the northeast today.  I love playing golf but today I couldn’t play golf even with a bright yellow ball and a shovel.  Even though there is snow up to your thighs you should be taking this time off from golf to be getting your mental golf game together.

Jack Nicklaus, or one of the greats, used to say that the game of golf was played between the six inches between your ears.  Take this time to perfect your golf game now so you can shoot your best scores when the official golf season gets here.

Yes— I said it perfect your golf game NOW (in the snow).   Take a moment and think of your golf strengths and weaknesses.  If you are a good scrambler but erratic off the tee club it down and play for position and let your tee shot set up your approach golf shot.  You should be attempting to hit the fairway and begin play from there.  If you limit your golf mistakes and raise your golf IQ you will indeed have more fun and play better golf instantly.

It starts NOW not on the first tee in May.  Let’s say you are a long driver of the golf ball but your iron play is shoddy hit the bomb drive and then short iron your way home.  Remember whether hail, rain, sleet, or snow man there is no substitute for putting— so practice your stroke continuously.  All you need is your putter, some carpet, your golf ball, a target and a sympathetic family to practice your stroke.  That is if you care anything about your golf game.

Remember golf is played in your brain so fix it now and play the best golf of your life.  When the snow melts I will be ready.  Will you?  Check back with me often for more tips to come!

(Honey did you see that there is a lot of break in this carpet?)
