Imagine that I played a round of golf today. On this gloriously suny day I traveled over to Lumberton N.J. to a peculiar, beautiful course, Golden Pheasant Golf Club. The par over there is 68 with a slope of 124. There are many hills out there. They have a creek running therough this property and a lot of the holes butt right up to bends in the river making this a truly magnificent place for nature lovers.Their signature hole is the par 44th hole. It measure a pga tour like 450 yards. The tee shot is slightly uphill with your approach angling down to a small green. Read these putts well because there is a great deal of undulation. Par is a good score. The fairways are manicured to perfection with Fazio-like undulation in some of them. Fairways are tight on the back nine but very open on the front. Straight hitters will do well. The greens roll true and can get quick if it hasn’t rained. Some of the local golfers tell me that the course owns land adjacent to the tract and may put more holes out there but it remains to be seen. You will get a wrok out waling this course but for $26 during the week you can’t beat it . It’s 30-40 bucks to ride and can get upwards of $50-$60 on the weekend. All in all it is a very good course. It gets 3 stars from me. And I know. Play it and tellme what you think.
